Hi, Please let me introduce myself, I am Tammy Faircloth Hawkins. My husband Randy Hawkins and I live about 15 miles South of Maryville Tennessee, or 30 miles South East of Knoxville, and about 90 miles north of Chattanooga, just off of Hwy 411. In a very small community called Greenback Tennessee (usually not on any maps).
We purchased 7 acres of land and an old farm house that needed a lot of work, and the land had only a very small portion of it cleared, about 25 years ago, with a gorgeous view of the Great Smokey Mountains. (East Tennessee has wonderful weather year round for our Doxies.) Well we loved the view, the house and the property could be beautiful with some hard work, so we moved in, rolled up our sleeves and got busy working on repairing, remodeling, and working on the clearing of the land too. That was 25 years ago and we are almost done, Ha ! Ha! It will never probably be finished. There is always something else that needs to be done. Somewhere along the way we picked up the nickname of the “Busy B’s”, (we were always working on several projects at once) and we were always buzzing around here working like little bees.
I have a great son, who lives next door. I have a wonderful grandson Hunter who is 18 years old now. He is a great young man.
I have always enjoyed working with dogs and animals all of my life, first at Veterinarian offices, and then I had a grooming shop of my own, for many years after that. Then my health started giving me serious problems. That was when I got me my first little black and tan short hair Miniature Dachshund puppy for my birthday, I really needed a friend. It was love at first sight and her name was “Sissy”. Sissy and I became truly inseparable. Sissy changed my life in such a good way, it was like a dream came true.
A short time later some new neighbors moved in across the road from us and they also had a Dachshund and loved wiener dogs. They had a Male, “King Louie”, he and Sissy became great friends, and then they had a litter of dachshund puppies, everyone wanted one of their puppies and we gave them all to friends, family and neighbors too. Still more people wanted dachshund puppies, so we decided to let Sissy have another litter. Oh Heaven Help us all!!! Tammy loved raising the puppies, and she was hooked on miniature dachshunds even worse now. (But it still had not even entered my mind to be a dachshund breeder yet!)
So we got two more miniature dachshunds, from a Miniature Dachshund Breeder, and when Tammy got to their home, she found out that Weiner dogs come in all of these different colors and patterns and in long, short, and wire hairs too. She just had to have one of each . OH! Beware, I am warning you it is very contagious, and it is called “Dachshund-i-tus ( We know because We have it really bad ! ! ) OK Now the thought hit ME “Why not become a Dachshund Breeder some day in the future?” We love dachshunds ~ and dachshund breeders always have lots of Dachshunds and puppies PERFECT !
Well friends that was over 18 years ago now, and things just keep getting better. So you see, this was never really planned. We became Dachshund Breeders because of our love for the Weiner dog, and our love for taking care of them, and raising dachshund puppies. We share our home and our lives with our Doxie family. We are totally devoted to miniature dachshunds, each one of our Doxies are our loving family pets, and we truly love and treasure each one of them. Before we knew it they had taken over and thank Heavens above, they liked us too, and they allow us to stay! !
We are Responsible Miniature Dachshund Breeders and raise ONLY Dachshund puppies.
In our opinion the Weiner dog is the best little family pet ever. They are such adorable sweet puppies, they are so lively and full of spirit. They love to cuddle all of the time. They love children and other pets too. As they mature they develop into such devoted, loyal family members. Each one of them has their own distinct and unique personality, with their own special characteristics. THEY STILL AMAZE US EVERY DAY ! ! ! !
We have been truly blessed as a mini dachshund breeder, with a wonderful life and lots of hard work to keep us busy. But it is truly a labor of love, and we would not dream of changing it, for anything in this world. Every day we wake up excited and anxious (even if we are still tired from the very long day and night before, and believe me, there are quite a few of those around here) waiting to see, what today will bring our way. As a responsible Dachshund Breeder we enjoy being able to provide loving families with healthy quality Dachshund pups.
We Thank God for happy healthy lives, and peaceful, warm hearts, full of family, good friends, and Doxies. We treasure them all. We strive very hard to provide our adult miniature dachshunds and our dachshund puppies with the same, happy, healthy lives, full of love, friends, and plenty of healthy, good food, and a large, safe, comfortable, and clean home and environment to grow and live in.
Unlike most other Dachshund Breeders ~ Our puppies are born in our home and given lots of special loving attention, every day. They are raised with plenty of room to run, jump, play and grow from day one. What a life for us, we usually have some puppies, of some age, somewhere. Always pulling at our shoe laces, tumbling and rolling around, playing at our feet.
Again I repeat, WHAT A LIFE ! ! ! !

WHAT A LIFE !!
As you can tell, our lives and our home are completely built around Dachshunds. We have carefully planned for and built a Doxie wonderland. We have spent endless time, and money, to make sure that we do a good job taking care of our Doxies. Providing a happy healthy environment for all of our Dachshunds is extremely important to us. We share our home, property and lives with them every day. Yes~ we do have quite a few Dachshunds, and yes~ it is a lot of work daily. But when you love them as much as we do it is a true blessing to be able to spend our hours and days with them. Sure it can get pretty loud around here, especially when a butterfly, squirrel, or fox decide to stop by for a visit. Yes there is a lot of cleaning and chores to do daily. But when you are doing what makes your heart happy it does not seem so difficult or so much like work. We are blessed with good neighbors, a wonderful big family, and lots of Doxie loving friends too. We have been told countless times how lucky we are to have found our true passion in life, and we know how blessed we are to be able to do what we truly enjoy every day. WHAT A LIFE ! ! !
Let me explain a few of the details ! ! I am Tammy Faircloth Hawkins, (BUT better know as)~the owner of BUSY B DOXIES, The Miniature Dachshund Breeder in Tennessee. Please, Come on in, and take a better look around at our Doxie World! Things are just a little different around here (than in most places). Let us explain what we mean. The first thing you might notice when you pull in the yard is ~there are several signs on the fences that say “Protected by Dachshund Security Patrol” Next there are two large signs on the front porch that say “The DOG and his housekeeper live here” and also “Happiness is not a destination but a way of living”
By the front door, the smaller signs say “Beware of Puppy Kisses” “A Dog says I Love You with his tail” “Welcome” on a plaque of 3 Dachshunds ! We live on 7 acres of land, in a nice Old Farm House with NO CARPET, leather furniture, benches instead of chairs at the kitchen table, and lots of big pillows on the floors in every room.
More toys, balls, socks, chewable bones, and stuffed animals, than you can count in the floor everywhere! Not to mention the 4 doggy toy boxes that are also full of more toys! A nice snuggly warm blanket on the couch! An extra wide recliner~ with room for at least 2 doxies on each side of the human occupant. A large bottled water automatic water dispenser in the kitchen beside the automatic dog food feeder.
Lots of healthy, yummy, dog treats on the counter in the Doggy Cookie Jar! Plenty of Cheese, Yogurt, all beef hot dogs, carrots, and frozen Peas, in the fridge! More dachshund figurines, statues, photos, art work, than imaginable placed on every shelf, wall and little spot we can find. An extra large doggy Condo, sleeping crate beside Mommy’s bed. So we won’t all fight over who sleeps with Mommy ! Large puppy pee-pee pads in each bathroom floor.!
Doggy doors in all the doors that lead to the fenced yard! (and much much more !)
OUR DACHSHUND PUPPY NURSERY~ Each one of our Doxie moms come inside the nursery 2 weeks before her due date. Where they each have a private indoor and outdoor area for comfort. So we can keep an extra close eye on her.
Three days before her due date, she is transferred into an inside only private area. And is monitored 24/7 till her labor begins.
At the first signs of labor we set up the Doxie Maternity Delivery Room ~in our living room. Tammy and the Doxie mom that is in labor get comfortable in the recliner and get prepared for THE PRECIOUS PUPPIES TO BE BORN. Delivery of a litter of dachshund puppies can take up to 24 hours for many Dachshund moms, and we never leave her side, (even in the middle of the night, or if we had other plans ~well cancel them) we are there with her to help keep her comfortable and relaxed (our experienced moms who have had a litter before know and expect Tammy to hold them through it all)
We always make sure that each puppy born gets every detail we can provide for them in their first few hours of life. WHAT A JOY TO WATCH ! We feel very excited and blessed each time we deliver a Dachshund puppy into the world. What a precious gift from God ! We help the mom to clean each puppy and record the details in writing (the date, time, weight of puppy, color & markings, sex).
When mom has finished giving birth and all the puppies have nursed and are sleeping comfortable, we move them all back to the puppy nursery into their private Puppy Condo for the first few weeks of life. Here they have a warm comfortable bed and plenty of time to just sleep, eat, and grow. Under our watchful eyes. We handle and love on each puppy every day.
At about 3 to 4 weeks old when the puppies start getting more active and begin to play, we graduate them all to a larger area, where mom can jump over a 10 “high divider, and have access to an outside relaxing area, away from her puppies (When she is ready).
By the time the puppies are about 6 weeks old mom has weaned them . And now we remove the divider board and expand the puppy pen to a nice big area, where they can run and really play more with each other. We put down a pee-pee pad at one end of their pen so they can begin their potty training.
Then at about 8 weeks old they a re ready for their new forever loving homes.
We have left out tons of work, cleaning, and taking care of many details, but there is not enough room for it all in writing.
OUTSIDE IN THE YARD AND KENNEL AREAS~ We have a 5 ft high chain link fence, that has been buried at least 6”deep all the way around, the entire yard (several acres).
Each one of our adult dachshunds has a small family unit of about 3 doxies. Each family has a large fenced private kennel area with a dog house that is heated in the winter, they have fans in the summer, a large automatic feeder and an automatic cool water system for 24/7 fresh food and water. They have plenty of shade trees all around in the kennels and in the yard. We clean each kennel and the exercise areas daily.
They all get to run and play together in 2 large fenced adult doxie exercise and play yards. Where they have a shallow kiddie pool, a climbing pyramid, a hanging tug-a-war pull sack, a couple walk through tunnels, a cross tie balance beam, and more toys and balls than they can count. We spends hours each day outside playing with them, we truly love watching them run and have fun together.
OUR PUPPY PLAY GROUND FOR OUR OLDER PUPPIES~ Our older puppies have a large round fenced area so they can run and run, non stop (no corners or walls to stop them while they play chase) complete with a Little Tikes Fort that has slides & steps, a safe low platform, with a shaded top and more. YES they love it!
Tunnels for running through, and playing hide and seek in. A Puppy size Green Turtle Swimming pool ! Under a big shaded canopy ~of coarse, complete with a large fan on the ceiling to keep them cool in the summer time. An automatic water fountain for cool fresh water 24/7, and a well supplied automatic feeder full of healthy puppy food. Balls of every size and color, pull toys ~tied to the fence for pulling fun. Frisbees, fly toys, puppy chew toys of all flavors, shapes and sizes.
A big tire for climbing on and playing inside too, and a HUGE tree stump with lots of big roots and platforms, so we can all play King of the Mountain. A Big Railroad style cross tie to use as a balance beam. A Swing set for children to play on while they are here playing with them. A wooden giant sand box next to the swing set so they can dig in the white sand for hidden treasures. That is always a fun activity. Several large dog houses under the Oak tree for resting in the shade when they get tired from all the fun!
